WHAT WE BELIEVE

Lighthouse Church is affiliated with the Church of God denomination. A detailed list of our doctrinal beliefs can be found here. Below is a summary of our core doctrinal beliefs.

THE TRINITY

We believe that God is one being but in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” - John 1:14 (NIV)

SALVATION

We believe that God became flesh (Jesus) for our salvation. The only way one can be saved is by God's grace and our faith in Him.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” - John 3:16 (NIV)

BAPTISM

We believe baptism is essential for every believer as a public expression of an inward transformation.

“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” - Acts 2:38 (NIV)

SCRIPTURE

We believe that the Bible is God's inspired word. It is the final authority on all matters of faith and practice.

“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)

ETERNITY

We believe that Jesus Christ will come again to usher in the end time events recorded in Scripture. The righteous will enter into their eternal reward, while those who rejected the good news will receive eternal punishment.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 6:23 (ESV)

HOLINESS

We believe that God requires His people to live holy lives. He sends His Holy Spirit to empower and enable us to live a holy life in an unholy world.

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” - 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

SPIRITUAL GIFTS

We believe that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit are available for believers today.

“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.” - 1 Corinthians 12: 7-11 (NIV)

THE CHURCH

We believe that the Church is Christ's body here on earth. Its primary function is to love God and love people. As Christ's hands and feet, we are to serve as his ambassadors in the midst of a lost world, for the purpose of making disciples of all nations.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching then to observe all that I have commanded you.” - Matthew 28:19 (ESV)

WHO WE ARE

Lighthouse Church is a full-Gospel, Spirit-filled church seeking to fulfill the great commandment (to love God) and the great commission (to reach people). The Lead Pastor of the our church is Bishop Lane Lavender, who came to Lighthouse in 2013. The church was first established in 1989 by Pastor Mark Knight. At the time, services were held in a small store front in Central Village with just a few members and a vision to preach the Gospel to Quinebaug Valley. Today, the church has grown in leaps and bounds and now owns their own 14,000 sqft building in Plainfield, CT. This location serves as the center for our regional vision to reach “The Last Green Valley” and beyond.

At Lighthouse we passionately seek the kingdom of God and strive to shine HIS light to all people in order to make disciples. We are thankful for all God has done and is continuing to do through us and hope you will become a part of our growing church family.
