If you'd like to give to Bags of Hope CT, please visit the Lighthouse Church giving page and select 'Bags of Hope'.
The Bags of Hope ministry was started in 2011 in Seekonk, MA by John and Kimberly Gagne to provide monogrammed duffle bags filled with comfort items to children in local foster care. Many children in foster care carry their belongings in a trash bag. The Bags of Hope goal is to replace these trash bags with personalized duffle bags.
In 2018 Bags of Hope CT was started by Steve & Kathie Perry as a Lighthouse Church Ministry to fill the needed gap and provide foster children in Connecticut with their own personalized duffle bags filled with comfort items like Pillow Pets, journals, fleece blankets and more . In 2019 Bags of Hope CT was able to provide over 600 duffle bags to foster children in Connecticut. The goal for 2020 is to reach 1000 foster children.
COVID-19 has caused a dramatic hit to non-profit organizations. Bags of Hope CT has had to rethink many of its events. We hope you will consider joining us in our first virtual 5k.
The entry fee to participate is $20. Each participant will track their own race (run, walk, run/walk) and submit their final result via a photo of their smartwatch, phone app, or even a picture of their treadmill. Each participant will also receive an entry to a raffle (2 raffles with $100 value each). All of the race entry funds will be donated to Bags of Hope CT.
